Have we forgotten who our God is? Have we forgotten who’s fighting for us? Have we forgotten who’s on our side? There is a spiritual battle going on, and it’s a battle that is won by love. We’re going to be called to bring light, and you bring light by bringing truth. We need to have to a spirit of truth, and a spirit of light, and a spirit of love.
I was reflecting on this text in 2 Kings 6 recently. This is Elisha, and he has a servant of the King with him. In verse 15, it says, “When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. ‘Oh my Lord, what shall we do?’ the servant said.”
I’m hearing a lot of people say similar things right now. “What should I do? I’m afraid. I’m fearful. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”
Then Elisha says, “Don’t be afraid.”
Do you know how many times God says that to us in the Bible?
“Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
Do you believe that yourself? Do you understand that your God has more for you than what is standing in front of you? ”
And Elisha prayed, ‘Oh Lord, open his eyes so he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
That is my prayer today.
As you sit in the middle of this and you feel like there’s chaos, you feel like there’s darkness, pray for God to open your eyes to the armies of angels that are fighting alongside us that are going with us. Do you understand God is still on the throne? No matter who is president in a month, who’s president in six months, who’s president in four years, eight years, or sixteen years, God is still on the throne. If we look closely at Scripture, God ordains who sits in that presidency. But as we look at the world around us and experience this time where everyone feels like it’s dark, we need to open our eyes to see God’s provision.
Open your eyes and see the army that is around us. Open your eyes and see the unseen forces of God working behind us. God says, “Do not be afraid.” This is not a time to be afraid. This is a time to pray specifically, “God, what are You up to? How can You use me? How can I partner with You in what is going on?”
Can we come in and bring light and truth to a world that just feels so lost and feels so dark? People are hungering for this. They want to be loved more, they want to see truth more, they want to know there’s something bigger going on here, and we have the opportunity to bring that light. We have the opportunity to bring that in and all we need to do is see what God has already provided.
